Tips sought in Oromocto gold, silver heist
Break-in at Restigouche Road business saw precious metals, other gear stolen, says RCMP
Officers with the Oromocto detachment of the RCMP are investigating a Dec. 19 break-in at a model-town business that saw gold, silver and other merchandise stolen, and they’re seeking the public’s help with the case.
The RCMP issued a news release Tuesday morning about an incident at a Restigtouche Road business in the town Friday night.
“The theft occurred during the overnight hours of Dec. 19, 2025, when one or more individuals forcefully entered a business on Restigouche Road, and left with a substantial amount of gold and silver, as well as two chainsaws, two acoustic guitars, six mechanical watches, two paintball guns and one pellet gun,” the release said.
Police don’t have the benefit of any surveillance-footage photos from the scene.
RCMP Sgt. Stéphane Esculier of the Oromocto detachment said police are seeking information from the public about the case, as well as any video.
“If you have a dash camera or home-security system in the area, please take a moment to review your overnight footage and report anything that appears unusual or suspicious,” he said in the release.
Anyone with video, images or information that could advance the ongoing investigation is urged to call the Oromocto RCMP at 506-357-4300.
