Three more charged in Tannery death
Additional suspects face counts of manslaughter stemming from Sept. 22 incident in downtown Fredericton that police say led to death of André Bourgeois, 41, of Grande-Digue
Two youths and one young adult were released on conditions Thursday after being charged in Fredericton court with counts stemming from a Sept. 22 incident connected to a man’s death days later.
The Fredericton Police Force laid a charge of manslaughter earlier this month against a 17-year-old boy from the Woodstock area. That count alleges he caused or significantly contributed to the death of André Bourgeois, 41, of Grande-Digue, by assaulting him in the Tannery, Fredericton’s downtown bar district, on Sept. 22.
Bourgeois died Sept. 27.
The 17-year-old boy who was charged Oct. 3 can’t be identified, as the Youth Criminal Justice Act prohibits the publication or broadcast of information that would tend to identify underage defendants, complainants or witnesses in youth court matters.
The police force said in a news release at the time that additional charges against other suspects were expected in the case, and that other shoe dropped in Fredericton youth court and provincial court Thursday afternoon.
