Québec man dies in up-river crash
Single-vehicle accident Monday morning claims life of 77-year-old man, RCMP reports

An elderly driver died in a crash late Monday morning, but his passenger sustained only minor injuries, according to the RCMP.
The Western Valley region detachment of the RCMP issued a news release Tuesday afternoon about a single-vehicle accident in which a 77-year-old man from Bristol, Qué., died.
“On Jan. 5, 2026, at approximately 11:17 a.m., members of the Western Valley region RCMP responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Highway 2 near Summerfield,” it said.
“The crash is believed to have occurred when the vehicle lost control, left the roadway and flipped onto its roof. The driver of the vehicle, a 77-year-old man, died at the scene as a result of his injuries. A passenger was transferred to hospital with minor injuries.”
Summerfield is located about 50 kilometres north of Woodstock.
Also attending the scene were personnel from the Centreville Fire Department, Ambulance New Brunswick and the New Brunswick coroner’s office, the release said.
Furthermore, an RCMP traffic reconstructionist attended to assist with the ongoing investigation, it said.
