Only 2K without electricity Sunday night
Service restoration for those still affected by outages estimated between Sunday, Tuesday
The number of NB Power customers without electricity due to Friday’s storm, which peaked at 90,000 over the weekend, is at just a little more than 2,000, according to the utility’s website.
As of 6 p.m. Sunday, the Crown corporation reported there were 2,058 of its customers without power, down significantly from the tens of thousands that lost service over the weekend.

NB Power reported Saturday that the total number of those who lost power peaked at 90,000.
The highest concentration of those still without service continues to be in the Central York/Sunbury region, which includes Fredericton and surrounding communities, where 1,178 were without juice.
That represents slightly more than 57 per cent of those who remain affected, and the capital region has consistently been the most affected area throughout this weather-related incident.
While some of the affected areas don’t have estimated times of restoration listed, many indicate restoration is expected as early as Sunday or as far off as Tuesday.
NB Power spokesperson Elizabeth Fraser explained a new statement Sunday evening that the reason some outages are projected for restoration into Tuesday is because the smaller issues can pose bigger challenges.
“As work continues, the remaining outages become smaller and more complex. A single repair on Day 1 may restore 10,000 customers, while a repair on Day 3 may restore 100, and by the final stages, one repair may restore only one customer,” she wrote in an email Sunday.
“This is normal for all utilities. Crews continue working at full capacity throughout the event, but the number of customers restored per repair naturally decreases as we move from large system components to individual customer outages.”
