‘Significant rainfall’ coming to southern N.B.
Federal weather service predicts unseasonably warm temperatures, high winds for region
Southern New Brunswick and other parts of the Maritimes are in for warm temperatures, a lot of rain and high winds later this week, prompting a special alert from the federal weather service.
Environment and Climate Change Canada’s weather service issued a special weather statement for all areas in the southern part of New Brunswick on Wednesday afternoon about conditions expected later in the week.

“Unseasonably warm temperatures, significant rainfall and strong winds are expected,” the advisory stated.
The warmer, wet and windy weather is forecast for southern and south-central New Brunswick, it said, beginning Friday afternoon and continuing into Saturday afternoon.
The weather statement is calling for 25 millimetres of rain or more in the area, with wind gusting from 80 to 100 kilometres per hour.
“Rainfall combined with melting snow may cause significant runoff and possible flooding, especially in areas with poor drainage,” it said.
“Strong winds may cause tree branches to break and damage utility lines.”
The weather service warned travel could be disrupted.
“Ensure gutters and storm drains are clear of snow, ice, and other debris,” it said.
“Secure loose outdoor items that could be blown around by wind.”
