Sex-assault, firearms suspect held
Logan Innes Legere, 30, of Fredericton, cries as court prohibits him from contact with complainant, professes innocence but says, “I’m sorry … I didn’t mean to do what I did”
A Fredericton man who was remanded Wednesday for a bail hearing cried and pleaded with the court after a judge ordered he have no contact with the woman he’s accused of sexually assaulting.
Logan Innes Legere, 30, of no fixed address, appeared in Fredericton provincial court by telephone from the Fredericton police station cellblock Wednesday morning to face newly laid charges.
He’s now accused of sexually assaulting a woman in the capital Feb. 13; and faces unrelated charges alleging he possessed a 22-calibre rifle and Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun for a purpose dangerous to the public peace, possessed those prohibited weapons knowing he didn’t have a licence for them, possessed them knowing their serial numbers had been defaced, stored those firearms carelessly and obstructed Const. Corey Ouellette, all in Fredericton on Monday.
