Serious sex offender paroled
Michael Sorenson, 42, formerly of Noonan, who victimized dozens of minors between 2008 and 2021, was sentenced to seven years in prison in Sept. 2023, but was paroled Aug. 2025
A prolific sex offender who was sentenced to seven years in prison for sexually abusing and secretly recording dozens of minors was granted day parole after less than two years, the Fredericton Independent has learned.
Furthermore, the former Noonan resident has now applied to vary strict conditions imposed on him by the court as part of his sentence.

Michael Sorenson, 42, formerly of Route 10 in Noonan, pleaded guilty in February 2023 to 22 sexual offences involving 17 different victims.
Among his crimes were several sexual assaults, instances of sexual touching of minors, production of child pornography, possession of child porn and voyeurism, all committed between from 2008 to 2021 in various locales in New Brunswick, but mainly in the capital region.
