Serial shoplifter pleads guilty
Tiphany Charlotte McLaughlin, 39, of Fredericton, says mother's recent death drove relapse
A Fredericton woman without legal counsel or disclosure of her charges insisted on pleading guilty to a long list of crimes Thursday so she can be sentenced as soon as possible.
Tiphany Charlotte McLaughlin, 39, of Highland Avenue, appeared in Fredericton provincial court by video conference from the women’s jail in Miramichi on Thursday, scheduled to answer to 13 charges.
McLaughlin has been in custody since earlier in November, and Judge Scott Brittain asked if she’d applied for legal aid yet.
She said she hadn’t and just wanted to get the cases against her over and done with.
