Two-vehicle collision in Waasis on Tuesday claims 53-year-old motorcyclist's life, say police
Police say a motorcycle travelling on Nevers Road on Tuesday struck a car turning left, and the man on the motorcyclist died at the scene from injuries sustained in the collision.
The Oromocto detachment of the RCMP issued an alert through social media Tuesday evening advising that Nevers Road in Waasis, just southeast of Fredericton, was closed due to a collision.
On Wednesday afternoon, police revealed that the incident claimed one life - a 53-year-old man who’d been riding a motorcycle at the time.
“On Aug. 19, 2025, at approximately 6:58 p.m., members of the Oromocto RCMP responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Nevers Road in Waasis,” the Mounties said in a news release Wednesday.
“The collision is believed to have occurred when the driver of a vehicle, travelling northbound, was turning left into a driveway and was stuck by a motorcycle travelling southbound. The driver of the motorcycle died at the scene as a result of his injuries.”
The driver of the car didn’t sustain injuries, the RCMP reported.
Also attending the scene were personnel from the Oromocto Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick, the release said, and a representative with the New Brunswick coroner's office is aiding with the ongoing investigation.
