A Nackawic-area man who broke into businesses, including a charity store, and led police on a dangerous high-speed pursuit last fall seemed disinterested in his own sentencing hearing Thursday - and even amused at one point.

Austin Henry Barrett-Soucy, 26, of Campbell Settlement Road in Hartfield, near Nackawic and about 70 kilometres west of Fredericton, was brought to Fredericton provincial court in person and in custody Thursday for a sentencing hearing.

He’d pleaded guilty in November to a variety of offences he’d committed in the Woodstock and Fredericton areas last fall.
