RCMP make stolen-property arrests up river
Trio apprehended following Mounties’ response to report of suspicious activity in Meductic
Two men have appeared in court on stolen-property and other charges and a third has a pending court date after RCMP officers effected arrests Monday stemming from suspicious activity in Meductic.
The Western Valley region detachment of the RCMP issued a news release Wednesday afternoon about a police response and arrests made Monday evening.
“On Nov. 17, 2025, at approximately 8:06 p.m., members of the Western Valley region RCMP received a report of suspicious activities in the Meductic areas,” it said.
“While patrolling, police attempted to stop a vehicle of interest hauling an enclosed trailer on Temple Road, in Meductic, but the driver fled at a high speed towards Simonds.”
Meductic is located about 20 kilometres south of Woodstock, while Simonds is about 35 km north of the town.
The RCMP reports that soon thereafter, officers deployed a tire-deflation device to stop the vehicle and arrested three men.
Mounties searched the vehicle and seized ammunition, the release said, and the trailer was determined to have been stolen.
Tim Wheelan, 39, of Hartland, and Brandon Schriver, 24, of Beaconsfield, both appeared in Woodstock provincial court Tuesday and were charged with various criminal offences.
Wheelan faces counts of possession of stolen property of a value greater than $5,000, dangerous driving, fleeing from police, resisting arrest, breaching probation and breaching the conditions of a recognizance.
Schriver was charged with possessing a firearm while prohibited by a court order and possessing stolen property.
The news release indicated the third suspect who was arrested - a 25-year-old man from Southern Victoria - was released on conditions with a promise to appear in court at a later date.
The Western Valley detachment says its investigation is ongoing.
