A major pulp-mill operator between Fredericton and Woodstock has admitted to a safety lapse connected with an amputation incident last year.

AV Nackawic, a pulp mill and the largest employer in the Town of Nackawic, previously pleaded not guilty in Fredericton provincial court to two counts laid by WorkSafe New Brunswick under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Those charges alleged the mill failed to provide adequate safeguards to prevent contact with a moving drive and failed to take reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of an employee, both on April 24, 2023.
