Psych exam reordered in camp break-in case
Matthew Duke, 28, of Saint John, accused of stealing shotgun from rural property in 2024
With a trial date soon approaching, the lawyer representing a Saint John man accused of burglarizing a camp near Tracy renewed the defence’s request for a psychiatric assessment Friday.
Matthew Duke, 28, of Lansdowne Avenue in Saint John, is facing Sept. 22, 2024, counts of break and enter at a Peltoma Settlement camp near Tracy and theft of a Mossberg 12-gauge, pump-action shotgun from that location; possession of the shotgun without a licence; possession with the knowledge he didn’t have a licence; theft of liquor, food and ammunition; and possession of break-in instruments.
As Duke had elected to be tried in provincial court and pleaded not guilty to all counts, the case is scheduled to go to trial in Fredericton provincial court May 25.
