Psych exam ordered in youth murder case

A teenager set to stand trial before a judge and jury next spring on a second-degree murder charge is undergoing a psychiatric assessment at the request of his defence counsel.
An 18-year-old man is scheduled to stand trial in the Court of King’s Bench before a judge and jury beginning May 19 on a charge of second-degree murder.

The case stems from the June 21, 2024, death of Sitansisk (St. Mary’s) First Nation elder Mark “Barnzie” Albert Brooks II, 71.
