Police seek to identify cyclist
Fredericton Police Force emphasizes person seen in blurry photo isn’t considered a suspect
The Fredericton police are once again turning to the public for help in identifying someone - this time, a person in a photo taken near where a murder victim was found.
However, the police force isn’t saying if there’s a connection to that investigation.
The city police force released a photo Wednesday of a cyclist it’s trying to identify.

“Police believe this person may hold important information that could support an ongoing investigation,” the police news release said. “They are not considered a suspect.”
The force didn’t detail to what investigation the cyclist might be connected or its nature. The release also didn’t mention when the photo was taken.
However, it’s clear from the background that it was taken along Two Nations Crossing, directly across from the commercial property that’s home to such businesses as an Esso station, Burger King and the Purrfect Cup cat café.
That’s quite near a wooded area on the north side of the street where the body of Montana Solomon, 28, of Fredericton, was found Oct. 20.
Police are investigating her death as a homicide.
The Fredericton Independent specifically inquired if Tuesday’s request to identify the cyclist was connected to that case.
In an emailed response, police spokesperson Sonya Gilks didn’t acknowledge a link, only reiterating it was for an open case.
“It’s an ongoing investigation, and we’re hopeful someone might recognize the person or they might come forward,” she wrote.
Anyone who recognizes the cyclist in the photo or who otherwise has information that could lead to the individual being identified is urged to call the Fredericton Police Force at 506-460-2300.
Those wishing to provide information anonymously can do so through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by downloading the secure P3 Mobile App or by submitting it Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca.
