Missing Carlisle boy found safe
Nine-year-old went missing in up-river community over lunch hour Thursday, RCMP said
The nine-year-old boy from the Upper River Valley area who went missing Thursday has been found, police report.
The Western Valley region detachment of the RCMP issued a news release Thursday night about a missing boy, only nine years of age, from Carlisle, about 35 kilometres northeast of Woodstock.
It noted the child was last seen Thursday at about 12:30 p.m. at a residence on Route 104 in Carlisle, about 35 kilometres northeast of Woodstock, and that he was reported as missing the same day.
Police sought tips from the public and advised that there would be an increased police presence as officers and search-and-rescue workers would be scouring the area for the boy.
Word started spreading on social media Friday morning that the boy had been found.
The RCMP confirmed a little later Friday morning that the boy had been located and was safe.
“The RCMP would like to thank the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, the Department of Natural Resources, Ground Search and Rescue, the Provincial Radio Communications Branch, the Hartland Fire Department, the Department of Justice and Public Safety, Ambulance New Brunswick, local volunteers and the general public for their assistance and co-operation,” spokesperson Cpl. Matt Leblanc-Smith wrote in an email to the Fredericton Independent.
