An Oromocto man is facing workplace-safety violations charges arising after a worker he’d hired for a mobile-home project in Maugerville was killed on the job a year ago.

Keven Fontaine, 32, of MacDonald Avenue, made his initial appearance in Fredericton provincial court Monday to answer to three charges laid by WorkSafe NB under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

He’s accused of failing to notify WorkSafe NB immediately that worker Roger Roy suffered an injury on the job resulting in his death Nov. 16, 2024; failing to take every reasonable precaution to ensure a worker’s health and safety; and failing to ensure the safety of any person with access to a jobsite.
