Ontario teens released on conditions
Kaiden Kanalas, 18, of Welland, Ont., and 16-year-old boy were arrested in Lincoln, near Fredericton, last week; Mounties allege they possessed stolen Ford Fiesta, licence plates
Two Ontario teenagers arrested and detained in the capital region last week on stolen-property allegations were released on Crown consent Monday on conditions to return to court.
Kaiden Kanalas, 18, of Welland, Ont., and a 16-year-old boy, also from Ontario, appeared in Fredericton provincial court by telephone from the Oromocto RCMP station cellblock Thursday, and both were charged with possession of a stolen Ford Fiesta belonging to Suburban Auto Parts Inc. in Ontario, as well as possession of stolen licence plates.
The charges allege offences in Lincoln on Dec. 17.
Kanalas was also charged with related counts of breaching a probation order issued by an Ontario court and breaching a court order prohibiting him from being at the wheel of a motor vehicle and from possessing any licence plates.
