Offender imprisoned for terrorizing woman
Chad Rex Kendell, 36, of Greenhill, had hoped for community-based sentence, but judge ruled conditional sentence would be inappropriate given aggravating factors in his crimes
Granting a Greenhill man a conditional sentence instead of incarceration for “a prolonged campaign” of harassment and violence against a woman in 2024 would be contrary to legal principles, a judge ruled Tuesday.
Chad Rex Kendell, 36, of Route 625 in Greenhill, about 40 kilometres west of Fredericton, appeared before Judge Karen Lee in Fredericton provincial court Tuesday to hear her decision on sentence in his case.
The offender pleaded guilty last year to stealing a Penniac woman’s cellphone and distributing an intimate image of her Sept. 15, 2024; unlawfully entering her Penniac home Nov. 22, 2024; torching a cabin on her rural property Nov. 24, 2024; violating a police undertaking barring him having contact with her repeatedly; threatening another woman, Megan Tallick, on Dec. 5, 2024; assaulting the original victim and threatening to burn her property Dec. 14, 2024; and stealing a GMC Savana van, driving while impaired and breaching a judicial release order Feb. 8, 2025.
