A Fredericton man who walked into an unoccupied home four years ago and walked out with tools he found inside was sentenced to jail time for that and other offences this week, but his remand time covered the sentence.

Brandon Michael Trites, 32, of Polchies Court, appeared in Fredericton provincial court in person and in custody for a sentencing hearing Wednesday.

He’d previously pleaded guilty to Jan. 8, 2022, charges of unlawful entry into a Howe Street home and breaching his probation; another breach of probation between March 15 and April 22, 2022; and an Aug. 5, 2022, failure to attend court.
