No criminality suspected in weekend fires

Investigations into causes of blaze at commercial property on Alison Boulevard, residential attic fire on McNair Street, ongoing, says fire department, but police not involved thus far

Two fires over the weekend at locations within or near an industrial zone on Fredericton’s south side are still under investigation, the fire department reports, but foul play isn’t suspected at this point.

The Fredericton Fire Department, assisted by the Oromocto and Upper Kingsclear departments, responded Halloween night to a commercial property on Alison Boulevard to find the building engulfed in flames.

Firefighters contended with the blaze for several hours before clearing the scene at about 2 a.m. Saturday.
