No charges in Jan. 30 southside standoff
Police directive for people to avoid Sunshine Gardens area was due to person in distress
A police operation that shut down a neighbourhood on Fredericton’s south side a week ago was due to someone experiencing an episode of mental distress, and no charges are expected.
The Fredericton Police Force issued an advisory on social media the early evening of Friday, Jan. 30 that it had a police operation underway on Inglewood Drive, in the Sunshine Gardens area, and it urged people to avoid the area.
Soon thereafter, though, the force announced the situation had been resolved.
