Municipality charged after compost mishap
City of Fredericton faces Occupational Health and Safety Act charges from August 2024
Fredericton city hall finds itself in the unusual position of defendant in provincial court, as it’s facing charges laid by the province’s workplace-safety watchdog agency over a 2024 accident.
WorkSafeNB, which oversees workplace-safety issues in New Brunswick, laid two charges recently against the City of Fredericton.
They allege the city failed to ensure a machine was cleaned in accordance with manufacturer specifications and that it failed to provide instruction necessary to ensure an employee’s health and safety, both on Aug. 15, 2024.
