Two men charged separately with counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of two people in the Grand Lake area in November 2024 will now be tried together for the alleged crimes.

And in a related development, one of the defendants seeking bail saw that request denied.

Mark Richard Foster Elley, 42, of Route 123 in Red Bank, near Chipman, appeared in custody and in person Friday at the Burton Courthouse on Friday, while Corey Agnew, 35, of Willow Street in Minto, appeared by telephone from a custodial facility.

The RCMP charged each of them earlier this year with two counts of first-degree murder in the killings of Robert (Robbie) Wayne Waugh, 47, and Victoria King, 23, both of the greater Fredericton area.
