A McAdam man will cool his heels in jail over the long weekend pending a bail hearing after he was charged Friday with counts of carjacking, escaping from police custody and violating no-contact orders.
Matthew Stephen McIntyre, 45, appeared in Fredericton provincial court by telephone from the cellblock at the Oromocto RCMP detachment Friday.
He was charged with using threats of violence against Bridget Lee Gardner to steal a 2003 PT Cruiser belonging to Deborah Sutherland, breaching a release order to have no contact with Gardner and breaching an emergency intervention order under the Intimate Partner Violence Act to stay away from Gardner, all in McAdam on Thursday.
