Let them know, let them know, let them know...
Give gift of local news with subscription to the Fredericton Independent this holiday season
Hoo-boy, while the holidays are a wonderful time of year, the weekend ahead is a daunting one, as it marks the last one before Christmas. I don’t know about you, but I still have a lot of shopping to do. I suspect like me, there are plenty of people out there still straining their brains to come up with gift ideas.
Here at the Fredericton Independent, we strive to inform, but in this respect, we can also help out with an easy, last-minute present possibility you won’t even have to wrap! If you have a family member or friend with an interest in current events and local news, why not give them the gift of knowledge with a paid subscription to the Independent?

The Fredericton Independent is the leading source for in-depth coverage of local courts and criminal-justice issues in the capital region, and offers public alerts on worrying weather, missing persons, other breaking news, occasional political opinion pieces and other features.
Full access on a monthly basis is still only $9 per month or $90 per year, and the latter option essentially allows subscribers to get two months for free.
As the Independent is published through the Substack platform, it’s easily accessible and in more than one way. All articles are sent to subscribers’ email inboxes, but readers can also peruse content through the Substack app or on the web.
Paid subscriptions to the Fredericton Independent support local journalism and ensure robust coverage of capital-region courts, and newshounds in your life will undoubtedly appreciate the steady flow of news. The Independent usually publishes at least 20 stories a week and often more!
Just click here or on the “Give a gift subscription” button, found at the top and bottom of this post. Furthermore, Substack’s payment options allow you to schedule the gift subscription to activate on a specific date - Christmas Day seems like a logical choice, in this instance.
To new subscribers and those who are already signed up - be they for free or paid subscriptions - I just want to thank all for their support and interest. It’s always encouraging, and you’ve helped to make this a viable, independent source of local news over the past three years - and hopefully for many more to come!
Happy holidays to all, and I look forward to continuing to keep people in Fredericton and surrounding communities well informed, and I wish you all well over the holidays and throughout 2026!
