Killer’s day parole revoked
Evan James Polchies, 39, of Bilijk First Nation, was sentenced to prison time for manslaughter in the January 2017 shooting death of Robert John Smith, AKA Bobby Martin
A Bilijk (Kingsclear) First Nation who saw his day parole for manslaughter suspended after he was accused of drug-trafficking crimes in 2024 has seen that parole fully revoked in a recent decision.
Evan James Polchies, 39, of Geegan Street, was charged with second-degree murder nine years ago for the January 2017 shooting death of Robert John Smith, AKA Bobby Martin, at a mobile home in the Tamarack Trailer Park in Lincoln.
A jury was unable to come to a unanimous decision after trial, and Polchies later pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the case.
He was sentenced in October 2018 to 13½ years in prison for manslaughter and intimidation of a witness.
