Keswick Ridge man guilty of sexual assault
Judge finds testimony of Cory Urquhart, 52, untruthful, accepts teenage victim's account
A judge said Tuesday she didn’t believe a Keswick Ridge man’s testimony that he never touched a teenage girl sexually in his home when she was there hanging out with his son and other friends almost three years ago.
Cory Urquhart, 52, of Rocky Road, stood trial in Fredericton provincial court earlier this year on an indictable charge of sexual assault.
Judge Mélanie Poirier LeBlanc rendered her decision in the case Tuesday. She noted there’s a court-ordered publication ban in effect protecting the identity of the victim, a girl who was 16 years old at the time of the offence.
The events giving rise to the charge occurred Dec. 22 and 23, 2022, at Urquhart’s home, the judge said, and she reviewed the evidence presented at trial and offered her analysis of that testimony.
