Kelly's Court home damaged in blaze
Fredericton Fire Dept. responded to structure fire on Brandy Lane on Thursday afternoon
Fredericton firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire on the city’s south side Thursday afternoon, and a home was extensively damaged in the incident, though no one was home at the time.
The Fredericton Fire Fighters’ Association, the union representing the city’s firefighters, posted on social media Thursday afternoon that personnel were called out Thursday for a blaze.

“Your Fredericton firefighters are on scene of a structure fire on Brandy Lane,” it posted around 3 p.m.
“The fire is now under control, crews remain on scene to perform overhaul.”
The fire department later reported that firefighters and equipment were dispatched to Kelly’s Court Mini-Home Park at 1:42 p.m. Thursday after receiving a report of a fire inside a Brandy Lane residence.
“Firefighters from all four fire stations, along with command staff attended the scene,” it said in a news release.
“Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and the incident was declared under control at 2:23 p.m.”
The home sustained “heavy damage” in the incident, the fire department reported, and the sole resident, who wasn’t at home at the time of the blaze, is now receiving assistance from the Canadian Red Cross.
“The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fredericton Fire Department’s fire prevention staff,” the release said.
