Hoyt man gets 8 years for drug crimes

A Hoyt man arrested by police twice last year with significant quantities of fentanyl, among other drugs, was sentenced to eight years in prison Friday for his involvement in the drug trade.

Dale Dunham, 37, of Mill Settlement Road in Hoyt, about 50 kilometres south of Fredericton, appeared in Fredericton provincial court for a sentencing hearing Monday and was back before Judge Mélanie Poirier LeBlanc in person and in custody Friday to hear her decision on sentence.
The offender had pleaded guilty this fall to June 5, 2024, counts of possession of fentanyl and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon (bear spray) for the purpose of committing an offence and possession of the proceeds of crime.
He’d also admitted to Dec. 5, 2024, charges of possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of the proceeds of crime.
