A homeless man released from custody last month ahead of sentencing for crimes he committed last year was back in custody before the court Tuesday, facing new charges.

Joshua Daniel Grant Burden, 49, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty April 17 to a variety of criminal offences he committed between April and June 2023, and at that time, he was released on conditions, as court heard he’d already served sufficient time to satisfy the charges on sentence.

However, his sentencing hearing was set over to Tuesday to allow for the preparation of victim-impact statements.

But when Burden appeared for that sentencing hearing Tuesday, he was back in the custody of deputy sheriffs.
