Defence counsel applies to court to get Crown to provide additional information ahead of trial for Brandon Jason Dean Canning, 40, on March 9 allegations of heist, firearms crimes

The lawyer representing a former Haneytown resident accused of a violent robbery in Waasis earlier this year is asking a court to order the Crown to disclose more information about the investigation.

Brandon Jason Dean Canning, 40, formerly of Morehouse Road in Haneytown, is scheduled to stand trial in Fredericton provincial court Nov. 6, 2026, on March 9 counts of robbing Douglas Brown of a gold chain and oxycodone pills while armed with a handgun in Waasis, pointing the handgun at Brown, possessing it for the purpose of committing an offence, possessing it without a licence, possessing it knowing he didn’t have a licence for it, using it carelessly and breaching a probation order.
