Hammer-assault suspect seeks legal aid

A Fredericton woman is set to return to court in the new year to answer to allegations that include assaulting another woman with a hammer and breaking into a northside apartment.
Ashlie Dawn Ward, 36, of Venus Court, appeared in Fredericton provincial court for her initial appearance on four criminal charges.
She’s accused of assaulting Danielle Desaulniers with a weapon (a hammer), possessing that hammer for a purpose dangerous to the public peace and breaking into a Union Street apartment with intent to commit an indictable offence, all on Aug. 6 in Fredericton.
