A Fredericton-area man is due to be sentenced in a few weeks after pleading guilty Friday to assaulting two men with an axe earlier this month.

Shayne Lucas Springall, 34, of no fixed address, appeared in Fredericton provincial court from jail Friday to answer to three criminal charges laid by the city police force.

He pleaded guilty to July 7 counts of assaulting Jordan Smith and André Silva with a weapon (an axe), causing more than $5,000 in damage to a 2021 Ford F150 belonging to the City of Fredericton and breaching a probation order.
