A Fredericton man remanded on allegations he set fire to an occupied building in the downtown core earlier this year has denied the charges against him.

Cole Christopher Harris, 28, of no fixed address, appeared in Fredericton provincial court by telephone from the Saint John Regional Correctional Centre on Tuesday.

He was arrested in late March and charged with arson, accused in connection with a March 12 blaze at the Militia Arms Storehouse on Carleton Street, part of the historic Garrison District.

Defence lawyer Edward Derrah told the court he still hasn’t received disclosure of the Crown file, but nevertheless, his client was prepared to elect mode of trial and enter pleas.
