From Ottawa to Oromocto, and back again
Feline’s microchip allows local shelter to find Ontario owners a year after she went missing
Tracy Marcotullio, manager of the Oromocto and Area SPCA shelter, says scanning microchips in animals brought in over the years has enabled them to reunite pets with owners locally.
But when a lithe, grey cat came through the shelter’s doors Monday, she said, it pointed to an unsolved mystery and a pending happy reunion.
The Oromocto and Area SPCA posted on Facebook on Monday about Birdie, a female cat that appeared to be a stray.

Marcotullio said some university students in Fredericton had noticed her some weeks ago and took a shine to her.
“They’ve been feeding her off and on,” she said.
