Fredericton man ‘fesses to fentanyl offence
Joel Douglas Perley, 49, of no fixed address, pleads guilty to lesser charges ahead of trial
A Fredericton-area man who was set to stand trial next week on drug-trafficking allegations opted Thursday to admit to adjacent or lesser offences.
Joel Douglas Perley, 49, of no fixed address, appeared in Fredericton provincial court by video from a custodial facility Thursday, and representing him in the courtroom was defence counsel Wanda Severns.
Perley was scheduled to stand trial this coming Monday on July 3, 2024, counts of trafficking fentanyl, methamphetamine, hydromorphone and benzodiazepines in Fredericton, as well as breaching a probation order.
However, Severns said the defence and prosecution had reached a resolution in the file.
