Fraudster gets jail time, then house arrest

A New Brunswick man will spend a few more months behind bars for fraud, a judge decided Friday, but she allowed him to serve subsequent sentences in the community for other offences.
Christopher Theodore Johnson, 31, formerly of Temperance Vale and St. Stephen, but now of Athabasca Avenue in Riverview, appeared in Fredericton provincial court Friday in person and in custody for a sentencing hearing.
He previously pleaded guilty to defrauding Ridge Cedar Ltd. in Keswick Ridge between Dec. 9, 2021, and March 15, 2022; fleeing from police and driving dangerously in Lincoln on May 1, 2023; failing to attend court Sept. 13 and Dec. 11, 2024; and breaching his Jan. 25.
