A 51-year-old Tobique First Nation man is expected to face charges in court after police seized firearms and cocaine in the Indigenous community last Thursday, the RCMP reports.
The Western Valley Region detachment of the RCMP issued a news release Wednesday about a drug and firearm investigation at the Tobique First Nation, near Woodstock.
“On Oct. 3, 2024, the Western Valley Region RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on New Road in Tobique First Nation,” it said.
“During the search, police seized firearms, a quantity of suspected cocaine and drug-trafficking paraphernalia.”
Officers arrested a 51-year-old man at the same location that day, the release said, and he was later released, with a promise to appear in court on a later date.
It noted that in addition to detachment members, personnel with the west district crime reduction unit, police dog services and the emergency response team assisted with the search.
