Firefighters respond to Pederson Cres. home Saturday afternoon, contain blaze to kitchen
Fredericton firefighters brought a house fire under control on the city’s south side Saturday afternoon, the fire department reported, noting that all occupants got out safely.
The Fredericton Fire Fighters’ Association, the union representing the capital’s firefighters, issued a news release on social media at 6 p.m. Saturday about an incident earlier in the day.

“Late this afternoon, your Fredericton Fire Department responded to reports of a structure fire on Pederson [Crescent] off York Street on the south side,” it said.
“Rescue 1 and Truck 1 arrived within minutes and found smoke coming from the front of the home.”
Firefighters stretched a hose line into the home for a primary search and fire control, while others ensured the truck had a sufficient water supply from a nearby hydrant.
“The fire was brought under control within minutes, and a primary search confirmed all occupants were safely out of the home,” the association reported. “The fire was contained to the kitchen area.”
Fire prevention personnel remained on the scene to investigate what caused the blaze.
