Fire breaks out at same location for third time
Pine Street structure fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived Tuesday morning
The Fredericton Fire Department says a fire at a northside building Tuesday morning marks the third time the structure has been ablaze, and it’s investigating the cause.
The Fredericton firefighters’ union issued a news release through social media Wednesday morning about an incident to which firefighters responded the day before.
“Early [Tuesday] morning, your Fredericton firefighters responded to a structure fire on Pine Street,” the firefighters’ association reported.
“The building, which had previously been condemned, was fully involved upon arrival.”
A crew of four firefighters manning one truck knocked down most of the flames with a defensive attack and then shifted to an offensive approach to extinguish remaining hot spots, it said.
More crews that responded to the scene then prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent homes and properties, the firefighters reported.
“This marks the third time this structure has been on fire,” the release said. “The cause is under investigation.”
