Federal inmate admits to lesser drug crimes

A Bilijk (Kingsclear) First Nation set to stand trial on drug-trafficking charges Monday admitted to lesser counts as well as driving offences.
Evan James Polchies, 39, of Geegan Street, appeared in Fredericton provincial court Monday in person and in custody, scheduled to stand trial on charges dating back to the summer of 2024.

He’d previously pleaded not guilty to July 20, 2024, counts of possessing methamphetamine, fentanyl and MDMA (better known as ecstasy or molly) for the purposes of trafficking; fleeing from police in a motor vehicle; driving dangerously; and driving while suspended, all in Fredericton.
