Carl Robert Ellis, 57, of Waasis, had been found unfit to stand trial on various charges, including break and enter, but returned to court’s jurisdiction after weeks of treatment
A Waasis man who has ranted in court about his family conspiring against until he was deemed unfit to stand trial is back before the courts, found to be fit again after weeks in a psychiatric facility.
Following a forensic psychiatric assessment last fall, Carl Robert Ellis, 57, of Cass Drive, was found to be unfit to stand trial on various charges arising out of the capital region.

That means he was incapable of instructing counsel, understanding the court process and participating in his own defence.
He’d been remanded into custody last year and then ordered to undergo psychiatric assessments after being charged with Feb. 14 counts of stealing from a Fredericton business, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest; breaking into Ellis Electric on Sept. 16; threatening to damage Ronald Ellis’ property Oct. 2; breaching a release order Oct. 17; and threatening Jayden Ellis, breaching his release order, assaulting Shane Drost, driving dangerously, fleeing from police and resisting arrest Oct. 22.
