When police officers encountered a Fredericton woman who appeared to be intoxicated in April 2024, they warned her not to drive her car - but she did so in front of them, leading to her arrest, court heard.

Gabrielle Paul 56, of Maliseet Drive, previously pleaded not guilty to an April 19, 2024, count of refusing a breath demand and had been scheduled to stand trial on the charge.

But she and defence counsel T.J. Burke asked for the case to be brought back to court early Tuesday so the defendant could change her plea to guilty.
