Drunk driver rolled car, hurt spouse
Alex John Calhoun, 33, of Upper Kingsclear, had almost double legal limit in his system
A drunk driver who rolled his car and broke his wife’s ankle lashed out at first responders who tried to help her, a court heard Tuesday.
Alex John Calhoun, 33, of Susan Street in Upper Kingsclear, pleaded guilty in Fredericton provincial court Tuesday to a charge of having an elevated blood-alcohol level within two hours of driving.
Crown prosecutor Kyle Horsman said the charge arose after an incident the night of May 28, 2023, in Newcastle Creek, about seven kilometres east of Minto or 55 km east of Fredericton.
He said the RCMP was dispatched to that location after receiving a call about a single-vehicle accident on Route 690.
