Drug suspect sprung 2 months after co-accused
Philip Roy Charters, 47, and Jerrod Andrew Mansfield, 39, to return to court later this month
Two months after his co-accused was released from custody on conditions, a Fredericton man facing drug-trafficking charges got his turn at freedom Thursday following his arrest in the spring.
Philip Roy Charters, 47, of Woodstock Road, appeared in Fredericton provincial court by video from jail Thursday, scheduled for a bail hearing after previously asking for the proceeding to be postponed on prior occasions.
He’s charged jointly with Jerrod Andrew Mansfield, 39, also of Woodstock Road, with May 8 charges of possessing fentanyl, methamphetamines and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking; storing three firearms carelessly; possessing a modified pellet gun without a licence; possessing a prohibited shotgun with readily accessible ammunition capable of being discharged; and breaching court-ordered prohibitions against possessing firearms.
