A suspect in what the Fredericton Police Force describes as its largest drug-seizure of the year opted to postpone his bail hearing Thursday, and he’s due back in court to answer to indictable charges in January.

Joshua Pescador Nguyen, 23 - whom the city police force indicated is from Surrey, B.C., but whose address is listed as Lian Street in Fredericton in court records - appeared in Fredericton provincial court remotely from the Saint John Regional Correctional Centre on Thursday, scheduled to go through a bail hearing.

The Fredericton Police Force said more than $180,000 in suspected drugs and more than $20,000 were seized in a targeted operation Tuesday at a Lian Street residence and a self-storage unit. (Photo: Submitted/Fredericton Police Force)

He’s charged with possession of fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking; possession in thousands in cash believed to be the proceeds of crime; possession of an unloaded, prohibited firearm (a nine-millimetre Glock handgun) with readily accessible ammunition capable of being discharged; possession of the Glock without a licence, possession with the knowledge he didn’t have a licence, and careless storage of the firearm.
