A Fredericton-area man accused of drug-trafficking activities denied those allegations Monday, but he admitted to a number of unrelated petty crimes.

Connor Brent MacDougal, 28, of no fixed address, appeared in Fredericton provincial court Monday by telephone from a custodial facility, scheduled to elect mode of trial and enter pleas to a variety of charges.

He elected to be tried in provincial court and pleaded not guilty to Oct. 22 charges of possessing fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking; and possessing a weapon (bear spray) for a purpose dangerous to the public peace.
