Dates were set Wednesday for a former cab driver’s new trial on sexual-assault and indecent-act charges whose convictions for those matters were overturned on appeal last year.

Akram Al Khalifa, 39, of Hawkins Street in Fredericton, was convicted after trial in Fredericton provincial court and sentenced to 10 months in jail in late 2024 for March 12, 2022, charges of sexually assaulting a woman and exposing his penis to her.

The case arose after an incident in his taxi on that date, and the victim was a woman who was a fare in his cab.
