Cuffed suspect clashes with deputy sheriffs

Judge remands Joseph Emile Breau, 29, of Fredericton, on weapons, driving charges

A Fredericton man who was handcuffed and shackled for a court appearance Tuesday cursed at and struggled with deputy sheriffs escorting him into the courtroom to face new charges.

Joseph Emile Breau, 29, was brought to the Justice Building in downtown Fredericton in custody from the Fredericton police station Tuesday afternoon to face several criminal charges alleging offences from the day before.

The Fredericton Police Force charged him with possession of a knife for a purpose dangerous to the public peace, possession of ammunition (a 22-mag round) while prohibited by a court order, violation of a weapons prohibition, possession of a stolen 2013 Honda Accord belonging to Jenny Arbeau, dangerous driving, flight from police in a motor vehicle, violation of a court-ordered driving prohibition and breach of probation.
